At Open Social Agent (OSA), we’re building the safety and identity layer of the internet — a cross-platform agent that unifies feeds, combats misinformation, and empowers users to control their digital identity.

Our vision is simple but bold: make the internet both open and safe.

Jessica Lowry — Founder & Chief Executive Officer

Open Roles

Chief Technology Officer (CTO)

About the Role
As CTO, you will own the technical vision and execution for Open Social Agent. You’ll architect the interoperability core that unifies closed platforms (X, Instagram, TikTok) with open protocols (ATProto, ActivityPub). You’ll lead decisions around backend systems, security, and scaling — and recruit the early engineering team.

Ideal Background

  • Deep experience in backend/protocol engineering (Rust, Go, or TypeScript).

  • Strong grasp of APIs, identity systems (DIDs, OAuth), and encryption.

  • Bonus: experience with trust & safety pipelines, moderation, or disinformation research.

Why Join
Shape the technical foundation of the safety + identity layer for the internet.

Head of Operations & Governance

About the Role
You will build the organizational backbone of OSA. You’ll set up and manage the hybrid governance model (EU nonprofit foundation + US C-Corp), oversee grants and fundraising, and ensure compliance.

Ideal Background

  • Experience in legal/operations for startups or nonprofits.

  • Familiarity with EU foundation structures, US corporate governance, and blended fundraising.

  • Strong organizational and financial management skills.

Why Join
Shape how OSA scales sustainably — blending public-interest governance with private-sector growth.

Director of Engineering

About the Role
As a senior engineer, you’ll help build the MVP — from the Canonical Social Object Model (CSOM) to connectors and the first mobile app. You’ll work closely with the CTO and CEO to translate the vision into a functional, user-ready prototype.

Ideal Background

  • Experience with backend APIs, databases, and integration systems.

  • Mobile app development (React Native or Flutter).

  • Interest in privacy-first, local-first storage and sync.

Why Join
Be hands-on in building the first working version of a project with global impact.

Head of Safety & AI

About the Role
You will lead the safety pipeline — designing moderation systems that blend AI, community lists, and explainable artifacts. You’ll ensure misinformation, harassment, and spam can be flagged consistently across platforms.

Ideal Background

  • Applied ML/NLP experience (moderation, disinformation, language safety).

  • Knowledge of hybrid on-device + cloud inference.

  • Background in trust & safety teams (Google, Meta, Twitter) or academic safety research.

Why Join
Define the standard for portable, explainable online safety in an open ecosystem.
